Beyond costs and scalability\, it’s essential to assess how these solutions impact IT management\, resources\, data security\, and employee privacy. \nMobile Device Management (MDM) has become a go-to for many organizations\, yet it may introduce more risks than anticipated. In this Tech Talk\, Hypori President and CEO Jared Shepard will explore why it’s time to rethink MDM and how virtual mobility offers a more secure\, private\, and efficient alternative. \nThis session will address: \n\nCommon MDM challenges:\n\nThe need for full access to employees’ personal devices\, often leading to resistance and slow adoption\nThe operational burden of managing corporate devices\, from deployment to decommissioning\nThe security risks of storing data on physical devices\, from malware to loss\, theft\, and breaches. \n\n\nAdvantages of Virtual Mobility:\n\nComplete separation of personal and work environments\, ensuring 100% user privacy\nEliminating the need for corporate devices\, reducing IT overhead and simplifying management\nProtection from data harvesting apps on physical devices and man-in-the-middle attacks\, ensuring corporate data stays secure\n\n\n\nJoin us for a fresh perspective on mobility strategies that prioritize security\, efficiency\, and privacy. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Jared Shepard\n CEO and President\, Hypori \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n }\n \n 1:55 PM\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Emerging Technology Talk\nMobile App Ecosystems: A Silent Security & Privacy Threat\nMobile apps have become indispensable tools\, but the interconnectedness of these apps\, often unseen by users\, can create significant security risks. While individual mobile apps may seem innocuous\, their combined functionality\, particularly when coordinated across multiple apps on a device\, can pose serious threats. \nThis presentation will delve into the concept of app ecosystems\, where seemingly benign apps can interact in ways that enable nefarious activities. We’ll examine real-world examples that demonstrate how these coordinated actions can lead to data exfiltration\, privacy breaches\, and other malicious activities\, and we’ll offer strategies for individuals and organizations to protect themselves from these threats. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Chris Gogoel\n VP & GM\, Public Sector\, Quokka \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n }\n \n 2:05 PM\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Next-Generation Networks: 5G\, 6G\, and Their Impact\nThe evolution of network infrastructure is rapidly advancing with the advent of 5G\, 6G\, and beyond\, promising unprecedented connectivity and performance. SUMMARY:The Role of Mitigation in Insider Risk Series\, Part 3 of 3
DESCRIPTION:  Presents\n The Role of Mitigation in Insider Risk Series\, Part 3 of 3\nProactive Risk Mitigation: A Winning Formula for Taking Action \n  \nSeptember 17\, 2024\, 1:30- 2:00 PM ET  \n \n Register\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Dr. Shaw’s critical pathway to becoming an insider risk illuminates the behavioral and event-based journey the individuals take prior to acting out in a way defined as an insider threat action. When following the pathway\, the first milestone is professional and personal stressors. These all too often go overlooked or undetected but should be the first opportunity an organization can take to mitigate potential insider threat acts. Prior to an attack\, Dr. Shaw highlights “maladaptive organizational response” as the final opportunity for action. It begs the question: what is a maladaptive organizational response and how do insider risk programs get it right or wrong? Failure to act\, acting too quickly\, implementing strict guidelines\, and not implementing enough guidelines are all examples of maladaptive organizational responses that could hinder proper mitigation of insider threats. Terminating an employee facing financial stressors could be a catalyst for an attack in the worst case. \nIt can also be a signal to the rest of the workforce on the organization culture. Isolating an employee with declining mental health or depression could lead to harm to self-incidents. While the safety of the workforce is paramount\, insider risk programs must balance creativity with meaningful enforcement to ensure success. As we explore 2024’s theme for National Insider Threat Awareness Month (NITAM)\, Detect\, Deter\, Mitigate\, we will face the toughest element of the theme: after detecting an insider risk or deterring one\, how do we mitigate the threat to the agency? \nFor Insider Threat\, mitigations are actions an organization can take to reduce risk to the organization.  These actions to be effective need to be informed by the risk you are seeking to mitigate. Simply\, your mitigation should be focused on the risk surface.  For insider threats we focus on the people\, the employees\, contractors and supply chain that all can introduce physical\, cyber or other destructive behaviors into the work environment. \nSignificant research has been done to identify leading people risk signals. Dr Shaw codifies how these risk signals if left undetected\, uncorrelated or actioned can build to a point where an individual does act out and tragically can cause harm to self\, others and or the organization.   \nInsider risk professionals understand that early discovery of risk signals enables sooner mitigation opportunities. To support this organization must link mitigation to deter and detection strategies.  Simply mitigation should not be seen as the end\, but part of a continuous process. \nBut- there is a risk to the organization if mitigation is not nested within their policy\, HR\, legal and privacy guidelines. Mitigation\, if not linked to the risk being solved for\, can become an accelerant to negative actions. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Moderator: Jamison Mitchell\n Counterintelligence and Counter-Insider Threat Team\, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Dr. Liza Briggs\n Social Scientist/Cultural Anthropologist\, United States Marine Corps \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n View On Demand:\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Zoom for Government enables ATARC remote collaboration opportunities through its cloud platform for video and audio conferencing\, chats and webinars across all devices. This Zero Trust integration lab leverages our industry-leading partners: ZeroTier\, Inc.; Microsoft Azure; Forescout Technologies\, Inc.; Sentry Enterprises; and Onclave Networks\, Inc. \nZTNS provides a compliant\, easy to deploy\, cost-effective alternative to rebuilding enterprise infrastructure. Our pre-configured suite of advanced\, proven technologies reduces time to compliance\, the need for ZT SMEs\, as well as the typical risks and costs associated with traditional enterprise transitions. It can be used to enable the use of existing tools to ensure ROI for enterprise customers with existing tools in their security stack. \nNational Security Grade Cybersecurity Protection: ZTNS encrypts connections “point-to-point” using cryptographically separated networks\, protected endpoints and AI/ML-driven detection\, response and mitigation\, thereby moving the security stack as close as possible to the edge. \nCPS for Critical Infrastructure Should\, Where Possible\, Be Completely Separated from IT: Separation and segmentation/micro-segmentation using both software hardware is incorporated into ZTNS. DESCRIPTION:  Presents\n Overview of the Center for Quantum Technologies (CQT)\nAugust 20\, 2024\, 1:30-2:15 PM ET  \n  \n \n Register\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n The Center for Quantum Technologies (CQT) is an NSF-funded Industry/University Cooperative Research Center (IUCRC) and a partnership between Purdue University\, Indiana University\, and the University of Notre Dame\, and also several industry and government members. The mission of the CQT is to collaborate with industry and government stakeholders to identify compelling needs and challenges in quantum technologies\, and then develop novel solutions to address these opportunities. \nQuantum technologies are governed by the physics of sub-atomic particles and have relevance to computing\, sensing\, imaging\, metrology\, communications\, and cryptography. Because of their wide-ranging applicability\, quantum technologies have the potential to be transformative\, with uses in intelligence\, financial security\, computing\, medicine\, and navigation. Society has entered the second quantum revolution\, but it is still in its infancy\, and the nascent quantum industry requires significant fundamental research to mature novel technologies. In partnership with industrial and government members\, the CQT researchers will use their expertise in quantum science and engineering to develop and transfer foundational knowledge into industry-friendly quantum devices\, systems\, and algorithms with enhanced functionality and performance. \nAdditionally\, the CQT will help train the next generation of quantum scientists and engineers to support the development of a critically needed quantum workforce. Students will not only conduct research\, but also help writing project reports\, present at biannual meetings\, and interact with industry and government members. This talk will give an overview of the IUCRC model including the CQT mission and vision. We will also detail the various research themes and efforts of the CQT. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n David Stewart \n Executive Director\, Purdue Quantum Science and Engineering Institute; Industry Liaison Officer & Executive Director\, CQT \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Gerardo Ortiz\n Professor of Physics\, Indiana University; Scientific Director of IU Quantum Science and Engineering Center; IU Site Director of the CQT \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n View On Demand:\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Zoom for Government enables ATARC remote collaboration opportunities through its cloud platform for video and audio conferencing\, chats and webinars across all devices.
